Merry Christmas!

WARNING
Santa is going to be auditioning for the role of FAT BASTARD in the next Mike Myers production... Cut him some slack.... in fact cut him some fruits and give him a salad - after all these years doesn't he think that he's been setting a bad example - I mean just look at the stats on obesity!!!

"Ho Ho Ho" - said Santa, "Where where where???" asked Tiger Woods. And so the story goes... He's off on his mega yatch with friends and which seagulls claim with his mistress Rachel!!! Elin headed home to Sweden for the holidays, with the kids and the egg nog.

Too many losses this year - MJ, most world economies and now more recently - Brittany Murphy... Word is that she had a similar problem like MJ with prescription drugs... If that caused her cardiac arrest - then I am just a Clueless as you are...

National Enquirer is reporting that Oprah is quitting her show because she may be dying!!! What from all that dieting she has been trying??? Its horrid that stuff like that sells magazines/ newspapers... but we do have it here in SA as well....

So Gareth Cliff has been asked to apologise for saying what everybody else was thinking? Big Up Dawg... Keep on serving breakfast with beetroot salad and SA will continue lapping it up! SAA Airlink has been given a lift, Over 40 babies born on Christmas morning in South Africa and more deaths on our roads than the stats show!!! And if the Pope is not even safe from attack over Christmas - what makes you think that you are any different?

The Proteas/ English test match is set to kick off at Kingsmead Durban - everybody knows that the winner will be the rain!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas and keep it safe...

Another wet Christmas, off to spend some quality family time - and my Christmas wish, somebody retire the old man and hope that the 2010 Santa looks like the one below.....

OOOOOOOOOOH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beetroot Flavored Christmas cake

Its sad that the ex health minister will always be remembered for her thoughts on the CURE for HIV/AIDS... Her passing on this week certainly has not had any effect on some MP's and party leaders! There are so many who still cannot think beyond 5 minutes from now!

Julius Malema claims that he will go to war with the SACP if they do not apologise. Uuuuuuummmmm - Is he living in a parallel universe or something? Would it not be a welcomed relief if he could channel his abundance of energy towards alleviating the plight of the poor in South Africa? Oh well - theres a resolution for JM!

Tiger's father cheated on his mother and now Elin wants a $500 million settlement in the divorce. With every dark cloud, there is a silver lining and Tiger has been voted as the Sportsman of the Decade.

The UN climate talks seem to be emitting more hot air than progress. People are protesting and scenes on the telly show them carrying placards made of non- biodegradable plastics/ material... ever so clever!

The recent spate of fatal accidents here in KZN seems shockingly like scenes from the movie, Final Destination! Its truly scary to be on the roads - and if you are not hit by one of these morons you are likely to be the victim of a pot hole disaster! Special thanks to the council for digging up the roads and then constantly filling it with stones & sand!

The test match Eng & SA is on SABC 3... Its just got started and its already painful to watch - almost as bad as Cheers and Knots Landing coming back! Not like ETV has much variety- The Die Hard series makes its return along with all the other rubbish reruns from the 80's and 90's. I still cannot understand the logic of TV licenses!!! We have to pay for a service we do not like and do not want and having a license does not add any value- not even when purchasing one of those exorbitantly priced flatscreens!

So I am working the 9 to midnyt show on saturday nights... Look out for some new music and a lot of stuff from 2009 which has been fantastic but for some strange reason did not make it onto the radio stations Top 50! Yeah its 50 songs this year- either 100 would have been too much work or the economic recession has caught up with this competition.

Next week will be Christams Eve... The week after that will be New Years eve and then the fun should start all over again....

Peace

Happy Holidays

Tis the season to go Jolling... well you know what I mean...

While parts of the northern hemisphere is experiencing a white Christmas, parts of South Africa is experiencing a wet Christmas!!! There are still morons oooops I mean motorists who cannot practice caution in such weather... I witnessed a horrid accident at Argyle Road (traffic signals yesterday evening) - grey golf III and a chappy on a scooter!!! All I can say is that there was not much of the scooter left afterwards!!! There goes his festive season celebratons and for that matter, his family's- who will be spending their time hoping he gets better soon...

A persons stupidity on the road has longer lasting consequences that one cares to consider... Okay - tis the season to be jolly so we are going to find some inspiration from Santa's helper (pictured) - and if she really works at the North Pole, I am sending my CV!!!!

From strippers to video tapes, the TIGER is not yet out of the WOODS! Considering that injury to his knee- I suppose now we know the required safety precautions to take when choosing doggy or tiger style!!! PS: There's some talk of a tiger cub somewhere.... his lovechild!!!

Julius Malema is feeling rejected and whats worse is that he claimed to be the voice of the very people who BOOOOO'd him this week...

You and I (as tax paying South Africans) have paid for a Porsche Cayenne this year!!! And as expected an MP will be driving it. Hlengiwe Mkhize, deputy minister of correctional services, thinks this vehicle will help rid her dept of corruption!

Bafana Bafana are already blaming the movie INVICTUS for their forthcoming poor performances at the World Cup - They want a sequel which has nothing to do with the Springboks!
And staying with movies, a newly formed union govenring arts in SA say's that they want to have more South African actors play roles of South African icons! Apparently Whoopi Goldberg was far too good attractive to play the role of Winne M Mandela in a soon to be shot movie!

Pick n Pay workers are picketing this week while SAA Airlink staff tried to crook an online poll as to whether you would use the airline!!! These are indeed exciting times and we can look foward to an eventful festive season!!!

Here's the link for you to download the ringtone to my current favorite song, "Let's all go to Mumbai City..."

The Week That Was!

World Aids Day!!! The one day in the year where the focus is on the practice of safe sex, awareness of the dreaded HIV/ AIDS and its effects? The day when South Africans are asked to keep a diet of garlic and beetroot but we are bombarded with stories of infidelity!

The news of Tiger Woods cheating on his beautiful wife Elin has hit the web and the other woman is reportedly named Rachel Uchitel. Apparently, the only person who can beat Tiger Woods with a golf club is his wife.

Eddie Cibrian is already cheating on LeAnn Rimes. Jude Law cheated on Sienna Miller. The Black Eyed Peas star Fergie needed therapy to stop her urges to cheat on husband Josh Duhamel.

Then there was Mr Morning Live Vuyo Mbuli who was supposedly in a bedroom with somebody-elses woman, after a few WWE grappling moves and the exchange of a vase or two - we are left wondering who was under the covers and whats been covered up?

Reports indicate that the slaughter of the bulls at the World Cup Stadiums are an indication of Bafana Bafana's performance during the football spectacular... Holy cow, is'nt that new kit for the national squad similiar to that of the Brazilian teams kit?
While Danny Jordaan is busy declaring the death of doubt - economists and most sensible South Africans who can count beyond two thousand and ten agree that the SA govt has already spent far too much for the WC that what they will see return to the country during the tournament!

Before I get beaten up by somebody elses spouse for no bad reason - Welcome back to Lotus FM's program manager, Santosh Beharie. He had a three and a half month sabbatical. Like Samson lost his hair, so did Santosh- only difference is that he looks a lot more stronger! So people, watch this space as I suspect that the radio station is starting to move faster than the RAND out of the recession!

Good luck to the Papwa golf Club members for their final tournament on Saturday.... See you at Doeshini's Niteclub on Friday and I will be doing some social upliftment work in Tongaat on Sunday.... Looking foward to seeing the smiles on all those little faces!

Peace...

Recession Ends in SA - What Bull???

Ah yes - the weekly report in our usual weird perspective!

First up has to be the fact that Stats SA has announced that the Producer Price Index is down and we are out of the recession!
Ahem!! so why then is the rate of unemployment numbers still increasing/ accelerating faster than the latest c65 AMG?
Why will fuel now cost 29 cents per liter more from next week?
Why are food products gone smaller and the prices gone bigger? Think about the last time you ordered a burger and chips, or even bought vegetables which are now smaller yet priced higher per kilo?

One theory is that these results are being strategically announced at the end of November 2009 to stimulate consumer interest and have you go out and spend spend spend over the festive season...
No this is not doom and gloom and a pessimistic view of the economic landscape - its just a load of bull and you should be spending your hard earned cash and bonuses (if you re lucky enough) on paying off your debt!!!!

On the topic of Bull!!! Ukweshwama is a Zulu ritual in which a bull is tortured to death. According to some - this is a highly symbolic way of thanking God! I used to think that virginity testing was a load of bull!!!!

923 govt officials have been brought to book by the Human Settlements Dept for corruption. The Dept of Correctional Services has found more criminal activity from their staff than from the prisoners they were supposed to be guarding. Mall invasions grow with the same haste as armored vehicle heists from a few years ago, this morning the Clearwater Mall in the West Rand was the latest victim.

The sad case of death by ambush for the two Clairwood businessmen is the latest eyeopener as we head towards 2010... Why would an 83 year old chase after armed robbers is beyond me, but our prayers go out to the family members... Speaking to a colleague, he said "Yeah its come to that, kill or be killed!!!" And we are telling the rest of the world that there is no crime? What crime?

A year ago, 166 people lost their lives when those selfish panty wearing so called TERRORISTS invaded Mumbai. Anybody can feel invincible with an AK47 and a bomb! Pity karma and the judical systems take so long!!!!

Mielie pap n sous has become a hit in Broklyn New York! The popular Madiba Restaurant has made a place in the top ten of the Gourmet Magazine list! Well done, Vuyo - no wait, he's been arrested, what I meant was - VIVA!!! expect the Nelson Mandela Foundation to be calling you next week to verify as to whether you can use the Madiba brand, have your papers in order and if you need a suggestion: Try adding some Vrystaat biltong to your menu!!!!

PS: Please don't slughter the Bull in the Bronx!!!!

Who is Mr. Davarum...

So whats so fantastic about the picture of the ship on the left... Well well - 149 years ago, this was the very ship which carried our ancestors to South Africa. Yes peeps- this is the SS TRURO!

Not exactly what we imagined huh?

Well here are some other interesting facts as we commemorate our arrival:

Between 1860 and 1911 some 140 000 Indians arrived in South Africa as indentured laborers. The majority of them were Hindus from Madras, Travancore, Orissa and Bengal. Today, there are almost a million Indians living in South Africa - the largest group outside of India and Pakistan

The first ship to arrive in South Africa (with Indians) was the SS TRURO. There were 348 laborers onboard. They were categorised as 2 % Brahmins, 9 % Kshatriyas, 21 % Vaishyas and 31 % Sudras, 27% Scheduled Castes, 3 % Christians and 4 % Muslims.

The first Indians who came to South Africa did not work only on the sugar cane plantations; they also worked on the railways, dockyards, municipal services, the coalmines of Northern Natal and in domestic service.

The name of the first immigrant, recorded on the list of the ship Truro, was Davarum.

The first major temple erected in South Africa was in 1899. It was a Ganesha Temple at Mount Edgecombe in Durban and was built by an indentured laborer from India known as Kistappa Reddy.

Well now you know....

My guest on the show yesterday, Mr. Aziz Hassim summed up the journey of the last 149 years and pointed out that your religion is not your origin - especially for those who think that there is or there should be a north and south battle!!!

Bob Marley and the Wailers are wailing away since last weekend when Ras Dumisani rendered his version of the South African National Anthem... Out of tune and clueless about the words, his mockery of the sacred anthem could very well result in a charge of treason! Where are the individual/s who appointed him to sing? Should they not also be questioned/ charged?

Somebody say one ou tripple one (10111), shorty call for pizza... The emergency services number has been out of service recently... Luckily its not a number which many victims of crime use - All South Africans know that when you call the number, irrespective of how many bullet wounds you have endured- they will just put a hold on it, put a hold it!!!

The weather has been running havoc these past couple of days and I pity those GP drivers who are now travelling even longer during mornings and afternoons!!! There was snow on the berg and people are wondering whether Summer 2009 has been affected by the Dept of Correctional Serivces! Hmmmmm seems like there will have to be a special inquiry set up with another team of overpaid analysts who will tell us what we already know! Thereafter, nobody will be fired and the results will be swept under the carpet or in some cases the grass mat!!! Thats if the grass from the mat has not already been smoked...

Superb punjabi mix on the show tonight - MC Dark is going to be making an appearance before it actually gets dark... Enjoy!

Peace

PS: This is the Bachchan's latest offering-PAA- Will be playing this soundtrack on the show this afternoon... And yeah - that is the BIG B on the Abhishek's back...

Sometimes Sometimes

There is a very special guest on the show this afternoon - A man with many stories to tell and I hope you are going to join us when we delve into at least half of the past 149 years for LIVE COVERAGE!!!! :)

Aziz Hassim joins me and we are dedicating this fantastic song just to him - If you want to know why, have a look at the translation of the song....

Maein Har Ek Pal Ka Shaayar Hoon Lyrics

Maein Har Ek Pal Ka Shaayar Hoon...
i'm the poet of every moment
Har Ek Pal Meri Kahani Hai
every moment is my story
Har Ek Pal Meri Hasti Hai
every moment is my status
Har Ek Pal Meri Jawaani Hai
every moment is my youth
Rishton Ka Roop Badalta Hai, Buniyaden Khatam Nahin Hoti
the face of realtionship changes, but foundations remain the same.

Khwabon Ki Aur Umango Ki, Miyaden Khatam Nahin Hoti
the boundaries of dreams and joys never end
Ek Phool Mein Tera Roop Basa Ek Phool Mein Meri Jawaani Hai
one flower has your face and another has my youth
Ek Chehra Teri Nishaani Hai, Ek Chehra Meri Nishaani Hai
one face is symbol of yours, one face is symbol of mine

Main Har Ek Pal Ka Shaayar Hoon...
i'm the poet of every moment
Tujhko Mujhko Jeevan Amrit, Ab In Haathon Se Peena Hai
you and me have to drink the life ambrosia with these hands
Inki Dhadkan Mein Basna Hai, Inki Saanson Mein Jeena Hai
we have to live in their heartbeats, we have to live in their breath
Tu Apni Adaen Baksh Inhen Maein Apni Wafaen Deta Hoon
you give them your grace,i'm giving them my trust
Jo Apne Liye Sochi Thi Kabhi, Woh Saari Duaen Deta Hoon
whatever i had thought for me before, i'm giving all those prayers
Maein Har Ek Pal Ka Shaayar Hoon...
i'm the poet of every moment

Peace!

Thanx Shushie

Hey peeps, this was the mail I read out on the show on Tues...

From: Shushie Govender1 [mailto:shushie.govender]Sent: Tue 11/17/2009 2:38 PMTo: undisclosed-recipientsSubject: FW: Happy Anniversary .....Charou !!

I am PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN INDIAN!!!! Are you?

Happy 149th anniversary to all the charou's...

On this day in 1860, we took our first steps on South African soil.

We actually arrived on the 15th November but we were quarantined until we were unleashed upon South Africa on the 17thNovember 1860.

Little did they know that the small population that they brought to SA would have such a huge impact on this country, from Pravin Gordhan to Monty Naicker, from Mac Maharaj to Jay Naidoo, from Kas Naidoo to Papwa Sewgolum, from Mahathma Gandhi to Ahmad Kathrada and yes even Darren Rajbal and Schabir Schaik, we have added spice to the Rainbow Nation.

Walk with pride today! Just think next year we turn 150.

Proudly South African- Indian

Mid Month Moods

Its already Mid Nov 09 and we are still awaiting the South African Summer!!! Pity, I think the recession hit us harder than we thought... It's even affected the seasons!!!
None- the-less, this cold, wet weather seems perfect to use a cheesy pick up line such as this one (ref pic) if you're hoping to pick something or someone online!!!

Another week ahead and much to be done... Lots happening on the show, with some cooler giveaways... There is plenty of new GOOD music out and you will be hearing it in the afternoons... well provided we steer off the road - I mean off the play list every now and then! Tired of sounding like that other station- Home of the Repeats!

December is starting to look good... There is a huge gig happening on the 4th which I will tell you about and then there is the Golf on the 5th!!! Lots going on...

Expect some cool downloads this week and also, let me know your thoughts on a weekly Top 10 (ON DA ROAD STYLE) here on the blog!

Peace...

The lights are on, but is there anybody at home? EISHHHH KOM Nou!!!

I had such a great party at Doeshinee's last Saturday night that it took me this long to recover... Who would have thought that Verulam, Stanger, Shakaskraal all put together can party like they did... Watch this space cause 04th December 09 has been booked for another huge event!!!

Typical isn't it??? There is so much (may the farce be with you) going on at MegaWTF Park that one has to wonder whether anybody truly knows whats going on with all the executive load shedding? So the power utilities board is adamant that Jacob Maroga has resigned but there has been no official press release... Its no wonder that South Africans are going to be paying 45% more every year for the next 3 years for their electricity, these incredibly talented individuals are taking the phrase, 'being kept in the dark' to a whole new level...
And then there is the matter of ARMSCOR - The board of Armscor has asked their CEO Sipho Thomo to resign but he refuses to go... Accused of an 'intimidating' and 'dictatorial' management style, Thomo says that this is how he learnt to manage when he studied his MBA (Machine guns, Bombs, Armscor) in Zimbabwe.

Due to the repetitive nature of SABC's promotional advertising for their programs I found myself forced to watch the 3 day semi- final of SA's Got Talent. Congrats guys and girls - you have proven to the world that we are not just a bunch of borewors eating, toi-toying, strike loving, scared of crime and one colored rainbow nation!!!
Well done to all the participants!
What is up with the music on that program when it comes time to announce the winner of the round? Who is this music director? I think there some 8 year old's on the show who have more musical imagination than what the viewers have to endure... Unbalanced and badly looped, this dull sound instead of creating suspense and drama, sounds like a Vuvuzela being blown by Jackie Selebi on one end and Glen Agliotti on the other...
Why does Anele Mdoda have to sound almost vindictive when addressing Randall? Did he stop her form having another cookie so that she can fit into that parachute she was wearing the other night....? I love her as a DJ - she totally rocks 5fm with Grant and her SA Music knowledge is amazing - But come on - there are kids watching!!!!
PS: I never considered myself a Randall fan!!!
Oh yeah - and how great is the TIMING of this show- most of the children acts on the show are balancing their performance with writing an exam the next day!!! Well done SABC, as if teacher and taxi strikes do not already affect the learners studies enough during the year, you go and position this smack bang in the centre of final exams!!! Now that's real TALENT!

From finding Aardonyx Celestea(dinosaurs) in the Free State highveld to realising that Bafana Bafana have lost 8 out of their last 9 games, there is so much going on in our beautiful country. The judicial system is being tested every day...
The Proteas kick off their battle against the Barmy Army's boys...
Bafana Bafana are on a sushi diet ahead of their match against Japan...
Children are watching SA's Got Talent instead of focusing on their final exams...
And of course, finally - there are some who will know it but will never admit it... Do we really need that kind of empowerment at CEO level or does the best man/ woman for the job not qualify???
Think about it...... Dali Mphofu (SABC), Jacob Maroga (ESKOM), Sipho Thomo (ARMSCOR), Khaya Ngqula (SAA)
... need I even go on???

Catch you on the radio....

Peace

And so...

Missed the DEAD-line for last weeks review - but there is always good which has to come out of everything, well almost - I figured I had best give you the weekly review on a Thurs... I had some requests for people wanting some conversation topics on a Friday afternoon when they chill with a chilled one at the company bar. So from this week, I will do my best to give you our demented weekly review on a Thursday!!!

Halloween has come and gone and I will certainly miss those inspiring horror movies on TV! (ag! so what if they were repeats... We have come to accept it as the norm... just in case it did not scare you the first time, the people who schedule these programs think its best to repeat all the movies in SA all the time...)

So the Grim Reaper is featuring today after what's been a lull of blogs! No particular reason, not even halloween... I guess I just wanted to put a face to those who we HAVE to surround ourselves with when we choose to work at some places... You know the kind, where they smile and are your best friends on your face and the moment you turn around..... (Think Brutus & Ceasar - no not the salad)

Yeah well, such is life...

Got an interesting week ahead, will let you know whats up!!!

There are going to be some changes to the show...
Got a huge gig on Sat night up the North Coast (Shakaskraal - details to follow), so please diarise it and hope to see you there....
Was thinking of introducing a weekly Top 10....

Well - you can post your comments and let me know

Enjoy the Monday and watch out for those really friendly people at the office, more than your position, they may want your......

PS: Got a cool e-mail the other day....
Dear Grim Reaper,
So far this year you have taken away my favorite dancer Michael Jackson, my favorite actor Patrick Swayze and my favorite singer Stephen Gatelly. Just so you know, my favorite politician is Julius Malema. (author unknown)

Peace....

Pardon me Mr. President, thats my balls.... AHEM, golf ball!!!

Another week and another review... our usual demented way of looking at our world!!!

Things which used to go bump in the night are no longer as scary as they used to be... What with all the talk of Cannibals wandering the streets of Durban this past week, terminally ill patients playing golf and more action off the pitch in South African soccer than on it!!!

Joel Santana has confessed that he cannot any longer steer the Bafana Banfana ship as the sound of the irritating Vuvuzela's are more confusing than him trying to work out a 4-4-2-1 strategy with his team! A source close to Santana revealed that he does not want to stay on and after the World Cup have to change his name to Joel Bafana!

In other football related news, Liverpool fans have comfortably acquired their excuse for the rest of the season... Come the end of the Premiership, they are going to blame it all on the beach ball!!! A British tabloid ran a story earlier this week that next season 2010, Carlsberg is going to sponsor the team with inflatable/ blow up dolls!! Tsch Tsch Tsch...

Shabir Schaik - the terminally ill and medically paroled ex advisor to the now president was seen playing golf earlier this week. Perhaps a lower handicap means something in the hereafter? Well done, once he receives his presidential pardon, he may as well turn PRO! Word from the caddy's on the course was that he tampered with his scorecard on the day... But the other golfers decided to schaik it off and continue with the round.

It is rumored that there is going to be a sequel to Paris Hilton's raunchy, "One night in Paris"- The proposed name for it is "One Nathi in Paris"and yes as in the colors of the SAP - it will be bluer than the original. The budget is said to be around R235 000 to R250 000 but it all depends on whether it will be shot in Cape Town (Table Bay Hotel) or Durban (Hilton).

A New York based transport consultant is quoted as saying that "Johanesburgs BRT (bus rapid transport) system is world class with the cleanest buses in the world" - right on Jozie! You rock!.. pity about the homes for the aged in the CBD of Jhb... They are living with no hot water, deification, filth and nothing is being done... One 83 year old who spoke on condition of anonymity, "All the old folk here have had heart attacks, I don't think it would be long before I have mine, just look at this place"

Chris de Burg is on the show this afternoon - What an amazing guy! Ever so humble and the perfect gentleman. Be sure to catch the interview and then next week, the Bollywood playback singer, Shaan is going to be on as well... Oh ya, if you do catch this blog regularly then allow me to give you the heads up on a new website for all you sport boffs out there - www.xssport.co.za
Go check it out....

Enjoy the weekend, play some golf, tell Schabir I said 'Hi' if you see him and ask him to return my money! No television this weekend as all the channels are carrying REPEATS (AGAIN)!!!! And in theeeeeeeeeeeeee spirit of that one which is freeeeeeeeeeeeeee - here is the ringtone to the song from the movie ROCKY!!!!!

http://www21.zippyshare.com/v/73475569/file.html

"Yo Adrian" - wait for me.......

Rahul needs our help...

Hey crew....

Rahul Singh needs help.... please see below the mail fom his dad... Contact details are at the end of the message..

Spread the word and lets all try to give this kid all the help we can....

" OUR YOUNGEST SON OF 10 YEARS, RAHUL SINGH WAS DIAGNOSED ON THE 25 FEBRUARY 2002 WITH ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA . HE WAS THEN TREATED AT ALBERT LUTHULI. HE WAS IN REMISSION UP UNTIL 2006 AND WE ASSUMED THAT ALL WAS WELL. HE WENT IN FOR REGULAR CHECK UPS AND WAS GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH.

THE WORST WAS OVER BUT THAT BWAS SHORT LIVED. ON THE 25TH OF MARCH 2009 RAHUL RELAPSED AND WAS RE-DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME DISEASE BUT THIS TIME ROUND HE IS GOING TO REQUIRE A BONE MARROW TRANSFUSION. WE ALREADY HAVE THE RAHUL SINGH MEDICAL TRUST FUND SET UP WITH FIRST NATIONAL BANK AND HAVE HAD EXTENSIVE MEDIA COVERAGE VIA THE PRINT BUT THE IMPACT NEEDS TO BE MORE AND I AM THEREFORE WRITING TO YOU BOTH TO ASK FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE AND THROUGH YOUR SHOWS REACH THE INDIA MASSES AND ASK THEM TO GET TESTED. Diwali Greetings

zwani.com myspace graphic comments

Best wishes to you and your family... Have a Blessed Diwali! May the coming year bring you love and light, with no thanks to Eskom!!!

I know - I have been out of action for a couple of days!!! That missing tooth seemingly was attached to a part of the brain which was also dislodged when the tooth got extracted... hence my absence!

Thank you Bafana Bafana for instilling and confirming our position on the world football arena. The shocking cold defeat this week by ICELAND (who's entire population is half their football team) makes one wonder... Who's annoying the ordinary citizen more??? Is it the govt spending billions of our rands in readying the country for the 2010 World Cup or is it the national team by losing their last 8 games? Either way, why should only Santana's neck be on the block??? It may be his 4-4-2-1 strategy but he is not out there with the ball on the field? And why should he only go, what about the BOSSES who decided he was the best man for the job when they agreed to give him a million rand a month????
Oh yeah and did anybody see Julius Malema at the airport when Bafana Bafana arrived back in the country on Thurs?????
A source close to Malema has revealed that Malema was rather busy, standing in a queue at Nedbank. Apparently he went in to try to change his PIN number because there is no 10 percentage sign on the the keypad of the ATM!!!
The soccer summary this week lies in the immortal words uttered by the legendary footballer a few days ago, Diego Maradona "Excuse me ladies but those who didn't believe can SUCK IT" - given his history one needs to take a closer look... did he really mean SNIFF IT???

There was so much debate over the recent tapes in the Agliotti/ Selebi saga... one would have thought that it was a recording from a hidden camera in the Elangeni Hotel in Durban. Alas the summary is simple, Aglotti's testimony as state witness absolves him from prosecution, his memory fails him at the crucial part of the trial, the state prosecutor admits that the video creates reasonable doubt to what was a water-tight case and Selebi is set free! So will Selebi be spending Christmas with Shabir Shaik, tune into 3rd Degree in December to find MO...

45% more - that is what you and I have to pay every year for the next 3 years as a result of Eskom's proposed price hike! Pay more for a service which we are already not receiving! Incredible isn't it? Try going to the police & municipality/ council advising them of an illegal connection of electricity. The police wants the ACT and SECTION details before they can react to this charge else they are happy to just play with their new heavier guns and the council is like,"No- we cannot do anything- the owner is responsible" But I have squatters who have taken over my property!!! Nobody wants to take accountability but everybody wants to be paid!!! Aaaah the joys of living in the new democracy!

Standerton and the residents of Sakhile have created a new standard for living in South Africa! If we don't have it our way, lets just break everything we have around us, injure anybody at leisure and insist that its our way or the national highway which coincidentally runs right through it!!!! The Police took every precaution this year for no Xenophobic attacks, but the Sakhilians needed another avenue to vent and destroy!
Low and behold, today after the outcome of the community meetings, the trouble has quitened down!!!! But the MESS/ DESTRUCTION/ WOUNDS still have to be cleaned and people will have to go on living!!!! Lets put those pictures on the Tourism websites and magazines ahead of the 2010 World Cup! Those are the pictures of South Africa!!! Maybe SAFA should change the line up of Bafana Bafana with the residents of Sakhile, they certainly can win their causes, even if it is by dancing, destroying and toy- toying!!!

So much doom and gloom and it was only in one week... well come now, its what makes us want to wake up in the dark because there is no power and hope that the sound you heard at 3am was not somebody trying to get into your house or get out of your garage with your car!
With that folks - Enjoy your Diwali and make sure you light an extra clay lamp as this year as Lord Raam and his counter- parts are going to have a more darker Passage to India thanks to Eishkom!

Peace...

Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone.

Things have been real quite lately... I know! Thanks to Dr's Cassim and Haffajee for their amazing skills I have recently had some dental therapy. Apparently more to come...
So in a few months I can boast that I have implants!!! I wonder if it is something which I can boast about like those who have implants elsewhere????

So I have missed out on the review of the past week and there were some real gems... Not to worry, we will play catch up and for those of you loyal followers I will ensure that you receive a good dose of HOT downloads with ringtones and songs....

Played a gig at FETISH on Saturday night! Wow!!! What an awesome venue.... You guys just have to check it out! Its more a lounge than the usual nightclub setting... The decor, sound and style of this place is something Durban can be proud of... go check it out and make it a regular haunt this December.
Well... that's it for now... I can feel that medication kicking in and things are getting pretty dwowzy !!!!!

No Net = No Blog :(

Whus up Peeps??? Yeah I been missing in action... well on the blog anyways!!! Would you believe - 3GB cap is insufficient for me... So there, now you know my reason for not being able to post new stuff for the last few days...

Anywho...

Its time to review this week...

Interesting week for several people and more so the Proteas. Was it that dose of all that Standard Bank 20 20, IPL 20 20 & World Cup 20 20 that has left us in a seeming daze which makes 50 overs cricket look like a 5 day test match??? I wonder if you feel equally bored!!!! Well a few days more and we get into the quarter/ semi & finals of the Champions Trophy... And unless the Proteas stop emulating Bafana Bafana as they did on the opening day against Sri Lanka, we should be in for some top cricket!

Took it all off.... eh well, took my top off.... wait that's still not right... Had my head shaven, (see previous blog about my gran) - so if you see me, please dont repeat what Rushil Mistry did - i.e. "Heita my guzzie?? Hoes dit vying??? lets kry 'n few qwartz 'n maak 'a sloop"

Leonard Chunene is off the hook and who will be the new SAFA Boss??? Sport and Politics... certainly does go hand in hand in SA! Should I say Hand in Hand or will I have to get some sort of test carried out to see if this is the right hand or left hand, or perhaps if this is a male or female hand, or perhaps if this hand is that hand or that hand is this hand... any which way, nobody's gonna give me a hand!!! And who's asking for a hand out anyway??? Watch the press and we will find out next week...

There was talk of legailsing DAGGA and then there was the 10th annual Cosatu congress... JZ was not present so nobody sang/ toi-toi'ed to Umshini Wami but reports have surfaced that there was some Snoop Dogg played and everybody got high, everybody got high, everybody got highhhhhhhhhhh....

From high to low, in fact so low that an SAA Airlink Jetstream aircraft crashed into a school in Merebank. It was rumored that the pilot could no longer stand the foul smell as he flew over the refinery and other rumors were that it was a lame attempt to take the flight attendant back to school!!! Whats strange is that how do you get hit by a plane while you are standing on the ground working as we are lead to believe as a municipal worker???? Or were you at the congress and you are still high?????? Our heartfelt sympathy to the injured... really!!!!

This just in - Engineers say that the cause of the plane crash could have been the smoke caused by all the braai-ing which took place on National Braai Day! Apparently Aunty Maliga was busy preparing some Aathilla/ Moonda (sheep head)....

Religious organisations are complaining and sending a petition to Govt. that National Braai Day should not be observed during Navaratri/ Purtassi. You are welcome to leave your comments...

Hey, I have got to stop writing now... apparently Ravi Govender reads this blog often. Contrary to what you know he is actually rather cheeky and threatens to spank me everytime I step out of line... Fortunately for me, the SPCA provides me with protection! Thanks Rav- good seeing you again and be sure to catch his column when he POST's it on Wednesdays and his radio show on Friday's.

Have a rocking weekend and I am looking foward to mixing it up for you on the radio tomorrow night between 9 & midnyt!!!

Peace...

Of Condolences and Congratulations...

What started out as a week of sadness quickly changed with your efforts...Thank you for your kind messages and heartfelt warmth. Much appreciated.

It turned out to be a pretty productive week for the country, for the radio show and for the radio station! Lets take our usual demented look at things...

The review process or rather the prelim review is ending today and thanks to The Elders (as in the hit television series Charmed) for their efforts. There is a renewed excitement and hopefully you will hear this translated on air. The afternoon drive show has once again shown steady and constant growth thanks to you the listener. With you choosing to listen every afternoon, you have contributed to a fantaasticc 25% growth...
Congratulations are in order for Mr. Alvin Pillay (Portfolio Sales Manager) as he has been appointed Acting Station Manager for Lotus Fm. Whether or not he will one day receive an Iifa, Emmy, Oscar, Loerie or perhaps as in the case of his predecessors, a Raspberry award for his acting position, remains to be seen.

17737 is the number for the week. Play it if you must and try out the combination permutation in the National Lotto and let me know what happens... Use it for the Superball which was this week introduced by Gidani. If it does not get you your millions it may get you through to the presidential hotline. Although this service delivery monitoring and evaluation utility has been setup, it has come with the added responsibility for the president has to ensure his nail file is as sharp as his pencil.

The ASA repeatedly denied it ordered the gender testing for Caster Semenya... Word is that Semenya had to endure a two hour ordeal of having her feet hoisted in stirrups and photographs taken!!! At what point in that did she think this was a doping test? Or perhaps she is completely unaware of what the national and global media are writing about her and her gender... She's only 18... that's not the age of a young adult!!!

From matters of a gender doubt to matters of certain stupidity! He was called a 'Jackass' by his president... Kanye West and his embarrassing actions at the MTV Video awards has earned him the temporary title of Mampara of the Week - This title will (sorry Taylor) be Swiftly returned to its rightful South African politician after this weekend. What boggles the brain in this story is why did nobody call this a racist attack? Surely West's attempt was to prove that no white singer can do what a non- white can do, musically speaking of course! Aaah - Tis better to be thought a fool than to open ya mouth and prove it!!!!

Well I am off to go prove myself now, got to go open my mouth this afternoon and be on radio... Thing is, even when I don't open my mouth I can be foolish so what have I got to loose... At least my president called me by my first name... From Shower to Power - Thanks Jacob!

Farewell... but not Goodbye...

She would have been 104 years on the day she was cremated... In a year she would have celebrated 150 years of the arrival of her parents to South Africa as indentured laborers...

My grandmother, the Great Mrs. P. Ramdhin was sadly called to rest yesterday(14 Sep 09)... A Woman of immense courage, strength and will. She is loved and missed...

Metaphysics, spiritual scriptures, religious practices and tradition has taught us that the Soul continues its journey to Moksha...

Thank you for the being the mother, grandmother and inspiration for several generations of the Ramdhin Family.

Asato ma sat gamaya (From illusion lead me to the Truth);

Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya (From darkness lead me to Light);

Mrityur ma amritam ganmya (From death lead me to Immortal -

(Bryhad Aranyak Upanishad 1.3.28)

My musical tribute to her.

Twin Towers

It is a time of pain for many... A time to remember those who innocently lost their lives in the tragic terrorist attack on the World Trade Center eights years ago to the date! Consider for a moment the anguish the family of those who were lost may be experiencing today...

Our prayers and thoughts go out to them...

In a time when the world is racing towards what seems like doom, with mounting pressures of global warming; constant terrorist attacks, wars, chemical warfare, varying strains of viruses, poverty and HIV/ AIDS - we still have amongst us those who are so uncomfortable in their own skin that their sole purpose is to anonymously attack others. While constructive criticism is welcomed by open-minded individuals, there are those who will never be content with their own existence and will constantly try to bring others down to their level of mere existence! Please... if you cannot laugh at yourself, go jump off the Twin Towers - oh wait a minute, another with your same mentality already destroyed it!!!!!

Its been a week of meetings, changes "YES WE CAN" - and I am delighted that finally somebody is sticking their neck out and taking charge, seeking accountability and laying the foundation for a radio station which lets face it - has been the brunt of bad news in the print media for a past several months.

So BLADE- ZN ought to be the numberplate of a new ministerial BMW! Car manufacturers are certainly not complaining... Politicians are trying to substantiate such a purchase, "Look, its a high risk vehicle, we just want to inspire South Africans to drive more luxury German cars and not have to worry about being hi-jacked"said one spokesperson. Ahem - is there not a police escort when these cars are on route to and from 'meetings'???? Or were all that blue light stories from the past just another reason for some of the pathetic newspapers in this country to sell more copies?
The Minister has gone on to say, unofficially of course that driving a beemer is like ABC...
A = ANC
B = BMW
C = Communist Party...

Castor Semenya's recent front cover appearance on You mag has inspired her so much that she is now considering Cosmo, Huisgenoot and Sports Illustrated.... Is it to make up for the report this week that she was broke? Why does she not sell the free house which she got?

This is not over.... gotta run, another meeting has just come up!!!! I got to go sing the theme song for the TURNAROUND STRATEGY- you may have heard it before, Ace of Base- "Don't turn around, I dont want you to hear me on air!!! Just walk away and leave the radio set on..."

Peace

Kind Words...

Hey....

I received a really complimentary e-mail the other day when I asked somebody why they thought they needed to refer to me as "Mr." - Wanted to share it...

"8.9.2009
respect my dear friend commands me that there is no substitution for courtesy and acknowledging a status of someone such as yourself. such exuberance and uninhibited laughter and sheer exuberance that i listen to on the road 'with rakesh' turns my soul that even though these are trying times, music still is the food of love and you are its choir master. So indulge me in the Mr. for I'm the slave of the music and you are its master..............."
S.A. Jazbhay

Thanks you S.A Jazbhay for your inspiring words.

Feel free to leave your comments at the bottom of each blog. Also don't forget to catch my review of this past week's happenings.... It'll be on the blog tomorrow

The Dark Mother

What if...????

What if Aziz Hassim had called his second book "Revenge of Shyama or Adya Ma or perhaps even Tara Ma or Revenge of Dakshina Kalika"??? Would these titles have caused the same uproar within the community as the actual title of the book as depicted in the picture on the left?
I hardly think so - only because we are all too familiar with what has become all too conventional and we no longer seek to extend our spiritual knowledge beyond what we already know or have learnt...
The common excuses are:
Ag comon... that's left for the priests and pundits rights??? After all - how are they going to make a living if we studied all that they have????
We just don't have the time for it...

Oh - just by the way... all of the above titles/ names are also given to the divine Goddess, Mother Kali.

If Kollapen were alive today - he'd probably exasperate vehemently with rage at the way we treat our brothers and sisters. In his time and more so in the time of his parents the Indian was just that, an Indian. (Kollapen will live on forever in the pages of this book). There was no definition by wealth or religion, no status by social clique's as is the case now... The North and South battle took place in the America's - yet it seems to have found its way here in our time, in our country, in our community... The Grey Street Laarnies may not repent, but they know and see the revenge for their actions - in their lives and in the lives of their children... or is it just karma???

Now there was a time... Although a time of pain, torture, suffering and loss!!!! But - it was a time when you knew who your arch nemesis was as you toiled his plantation! Unlike today when your foe could be anybody, your neighbor, your colleague, your friend, your family, the very one you trust - your own kind!!!

The Revenge of Kali by Aziz Hassim was launched on July 21st, 2009. His second book after the award winning, The Lotus People. Fortunately for him, that book had nothing to do with a particular South African radio station, even for the namesake. The Revenge of Kali is a journey of great self realisation for every South African person of Indian origin. Our history is not told as it rightfully was and with stories such as these, we are able to cross the lanes; roads; walkways of the Casbah, live on the sugar plantations and smuggle cartons wrapped in oil rags in Durban harbor. Fact/ fiction/ imagination...do not miss out, get your copy and read it, I know you will enjoy it as much as I did....
Word of advice, cherish the beginning as he takes you on a historical journey of our past which many know nothing about but will claim the fame when they celebrate 150 years of the arrival of the Indentured Laborer in 2010.

PS: Why should you celebrate the arrival of a slave anyway?????
Is that something to be proud of when your ancestors were kidnapped from the streets of India, foiled into believing what they were mislead to believe.... and then coming here to slave on plantations of sugar with every kind of inhumanity/ injustice thrust upon them!!!!

Well such is the SPIRIT of the INDIAN - He/ She will flourish in time under any circumstance......Celebrate that @#$*@&%$!!!!!

PSS: It is said, Kali is the fearful form of the Mother Goddess. And now to clear any misconceptions this is what the truth behind that picture is...
As legend goes, in a battle, Mother Kali got carried away and began destroying everything in sight. To stop her, Lord Shiva threw himself under her feet. Shocked at this sight, Mother Kali stuck out her tongue in astonishment and put an end to her homicidal rampage. Hence the common image of Kali in her meleƩ mood with one foot on Shiva's chest and her tongue stuck out. nobody could stop her other than Lord Shiva....

Hope we have all learnt something today....

Peace....

Monday Blueeeezzzzzzzzz

Hey, trust that the weekend was good...

Yeah - its one of those Monday's... going to be a long week I guess. Oddly enough, when one of these days happens my cure is a good dose of some of my favorite tracks...
One such song is the Theme Music from the film Bombay. Here's the link if you want the song...

http://www13.zippyshare.com/v/89249934/file.html

Have made some changes so that it's easier for you to follow the blog. Now you can also post your comments even if you do not have a G-mail/ Yahoo e-mail addy...

Interesting start to the week with the station manager having resigned!!!! Well, here's wishing her all the best :( P.S: This has nothing to do with the Blue Monday!!!!

Keep those motivations coming through on e-mail and who knows, you could be a winner of that awesome three month FINANCIAL SKILLS ENHANCEMENT course which I am giving away on Friday this week...
Tune into the show for more details.

Look out for a new ring tone this week.... working on a few tunes, but cannot make up my mind... any suggestions????

Peace...
