From Cape Town to Canada... my China!!!

Whew! What a week... Launched the blog on
Sep 1 and already so many hits!!! Thank you for your support... Please feel free to leave your requests for songs, ringtones, suggestions & comments.

Okay, lets review this week...
Thanks to the national broadcaster for the fiasco with Survivor Fong Kong- oops sorry, I mean China, my china!!! Hey lets be honest, if you are paying peanuts, you ought to be expecting monkey business.....right??? After all, its the right thing to do! So yet another repeat this Sunday for our increased TV license fee!!

Yesterday I blogged about Russell Peters and his lovechild and I had several requests from woman in Durban claiming that I was talking about them... Ahem, if the condom fits... well I guess there wasn't one hence that guilty feeling!!! Well more importantly, the other Canadian Sugar Sammy also sent me an e-mail saying that he felt left out because I did not mention him or his 'lovechildren' on the blog. Sorry Sugar - here have some sugars... hmmmm addictive yeah!! Must be all that gelatine found in most sweet/ chocolate products here in SA!

So now that Brandon Huntley has been granted refugee status in Canada, is he going to sneak into the US, UK or perhaps even survive in China if he is attacked by some school going kid who's packing his dad's handgun? Will he apply for refugee status there as well or did he not think it through that far???

District 9 wowed audiences both locally and abroad at the premiere. Its all that local and intl movie-goers can seem to talk about this week, the sci- fi movie which was shot right here in Johannesburg, South Africa. Apparently the word shot has two deliberate meanings... During the movie shoot, some of the production staff were allegedly shot at when they arrived early one morning on set... It was in the midst of an armored vehicle cash heist taking place in a mall... But alas, such is life in Jozie - a bullet here... a fender bender there, all in a 19 hour day of traveling in traffic and being at the office.

So what if District 9 was a Bollywood movie and shot in a similar locale??? My theory is that it will be called DHARAVI NAU (9) - (Dharavi is the biggest slum in Asia and Nau is the word for the number 9). My guess is that it would star:
Jadoo as Jadoo
Hrithik Roshan as Rohit and also Krrrrish (yes he will be playing a dual role)
Aishwariya Rai as Jadoo's sister, Johdaa
Priety Zinta as Pretoria
Julius Malema will have a guest appearance as the evil villain from from another galaxy and the make-up crew will not have to do too much as he won't even need a mask/ costume.

Well - I cannot tell you too much more about District 9 as I am waiting for Budget Tuesday to got watch it - Remember the fist story... Peanuts, well yeah!!!!

Off to go monkey around at the studio now... Yay, it's Freebie Friday - where you win without having to be suckered into buying a lotto ticket.

Peace...

Michael Jackson & Pitr Paksh

Its a sad day, the legendary Michael Joseph Jackson will finally be laid to rest today in Glendale, California’s Great Mausoleum, which is filled with famed golden-era Hollywood entertainers, including Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Jean Harlow and W.C. Fields.
Question is, with him being a super star himself, does he belong in the stars above or amongst the stars below???
PS: Don't worry I know its been a long time since he passed on, but apparently plastic does not decompose....
PSS: Is it a coincidence that he is buried hours before the start of "Pitr Paksh"?- I can see the Thriller video coming to life here.....

Don't ponder that too much cause there is so much more happening in and around us! Well for starters, Brandon Huntley's paranoia seems to be all that the papers can write about. Certain Canadian authorities claim that Russell Peter's lovechild is somewhere in Durban and there was space/ vacancy for a 'male (adult)' with the mounties...
We will talk more on this tomorrow - feel free to leave your comments.

What I want to talk about today is something which I need your advice on... I was thinking about introducing a sort of reality/ game-show feature to the radio show and I was thinking about hooking people up... hey nothing major - just use the show to hook two people up and get your mind out of the gutter, there will be no hotel rooms booked!!!
So.... what do you say??? Want to think about it and post your comments???? Tell you what, person with the best original creative concept for the show should and will receive a lil something something...
Post your comments below and let me know....
I think if anything, we will have just as much fun hearing the pitches, pick- up lines and responses as well as voting for the couples...

So tomorrow - we will take a look at what transpired during the week and I will share with you my thoughts which I am not allowed to express on radio, right here on the blog...

Spring has sprung... or has it?

Okay - So Spring has sprung... or has it??? Do we have to wait until the 21st/ 22nd of this month as the experts seem to claim to really smell the flowers and hear the birds chirping??? Spring, Summer, Winter, Autumn - Life goes on and you are still responsible for the music of your life to keep on playing...

Now, on the topic of music, I have got another killer mix of retro classics this afternoon. Be sure to catch it on your radio between 6:30-7pm.

Staying with the retro classics, since I launched the blog yesterday on the show I had many generous compliments from you about the blog. From the Reddy's in Alberton to Aakanksha in India, thank you for your support. One listener Verushka Maharaj sent me a wonderfully kind e-mail. I found out that her favorite old school song is "Tere Bindya Re"- from the 1973 movie "Abhimaan". Its a great track and here is the link for you to enjoy as well.

Word is that Abishek Bachchan is being roped in for a remake of this movie Abhimaan...

On another matter: Today is a BIG day for the internet!!!! From the Arpanet to the Internet, I am certain that you are as happy about this great invention as I am. So big up to the makers who started this some forty years ago...

Thanks for tuning into the radio show and thanks for checking out the blog... Be sure to leave your comments at the bottom and also to subscribe for updates... You never know when you may find or miss your favourite track...

See you back here soon....

Peace

Happy Spring Day

Hey Peeps,

"An optimist is the human personification of spring." (Susan J. Bissonette)

So today, you officially heard about the blog on the show... As promised, here is our little Spring Day gift to you... A tiny little card as well as the Vishal & Shekhar tribute to the King of Pop! Just click on the title of this post (Happy Spring Day) for the song... you can also watch the video of the song below!

No point in lecturing and or telling you all about how to make changes in your life and that this year, instead of just spring cleaning the home and/ or garage, spring clean your mind as well -
So instead of all that i would like to leave you with this.... "If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome." by Anne Bradstreet

Click here to watch the Vishal/ Shekhar MJ tribute "We Live in his world"- with the stars...
