1860 Indian Arrival in SA
As discussed on the show -
"The first set of indentured labourers were sent to the Natal Estate sugar farms. Most were allocated to an employee at Mount Edgecombe sugar estate. later houses were built for them in Cornubia, where most remaining families lived till the 80s. incidentally Cornubia Estate was established in 1870. its also located in whats now called mount edgccombe golf estate!!!
Anyway the children and grandchildren of our ancestors who lived in Cornubia are trying to arrange a function to get together and share experiences and memories of their childhood in cornubia. We are specifically looking for families that used to live in the area. "
- Get in touch with us and let us help the people from Cornubia come together... A lot of time has passed so family would have moved on, to other parts of South Africa as well as the world... There is a group of people who want to create a network of all the residents from that time. Please spread the word and lets assist together...Tune into the radio show for more details...
Peace
